Datamart, also known as a data mart, is a subset of the environment of a data warehouse. Its role is to gather information for a specific client. It focuses on a specific business sector, department, or subject. This results in easy access to data for a certain group of users, without having to search through the entire data warehouse. People can thus analyze more effectively and manage data according to their needs and tasks. Datamarts can be either independent and standalone or part of a larger data warehouse system.

A disadvantage may be the inconsistency that can occur between individual marts.
